There are moments when you realise something is becoming much bigger than you ever imagined.
Monday 27th July is one of those moments.
We’re incredibly excited to announce the launch of Billingham Shit Runners Club, our first ever club in the North East of England.
What started in Kendal with a handful of ordinary people who simply wanted a kinder, less intimidating way to get moving has grown into something remarkable. New clubs are now popping up across the country, each one built by local people who believe running should be about friendship, laughter and belonging, not pace, PBs or pressure.
Billingham is the latest community to say, “We want one of those.”
And we couldn’t be happier.
Why Billingham?
Because the need is everywhere.
Every town has people who think they’re “too slow” to join a running club.
Every town has someone sitting at home wanting to get fitter but convinced they’ll hold everyone back.
Every town has people feeling isolated, anxious or simply looking for their people.
Shit Runners Club exists for them.
Not elite runners.
Not the fastest.
Just ordinary people who want to move a little more and smile a lot more.
More Than Just a Running Club
When a new Shit Runners Club launches, it isn’t simply another place to run.
It’s a new community.
It’s somewhere people can turn up on their own and leave knowing someone’s name.
It’s somewhere walking is celebrated just as much as running.
It’s somewhere nobody gets left behind.
We’ve seen complete beginners become regular runners. We’ve seen friendships form that would never otherwise have happened. We’ve seen people rediscover confidence, improve their mental wellbeing and genuinely change their lives.
That’s why we’re so excited to see Billingham become part of the family.
Could Your Town Be Next?
Here’s the thing…
We don’t build these clubs ourselves.
Local people do.
Every new Shit Runners Club starts because someone says:
“My town needs this.”
You don’t need to be a coach.
You don’t need to be fast.
You don’t even need to think of yourself as a leader.
You simply need to care about your community and believe that everyone deserves somewhere they belong.
We’ll help with the rest.
From branding and launch support to safeguarding, guidance, training and ongoing support, we’ve created a framework that makes it as easy as possible for local people to build something special.
Join Us in Billingham
If you’re local, we’d love to see you at the launch.

Fancy Bringing Shit Runners Club to Your Town?
Billingham won’t be the last.
We’re looking for more communities across the UK who want to build something positive, inclusive and brilliantly ordinary.
If you’ve ever looked around your town and thought, “People here would love this,” then we’d love to hear from you.
Send us a message through our social media channels or via our website.
Your town could be next.
After all, every movement starts with one person brave enough to say…
“Let’s give it a go.” 💚
