From Struggling to Walk to Jogging Her First parkrun

Twelve months ago, Debbie Hall was struggling to walk properly. After being told she might simply have to “learn to live with it”, she feared she could be using a mobility scooter by Christmas.

Then Shit Runners Club came along.

Debbie began with short walks while her partner Diane joined the runs. When Shit Walkers launched, she started going a little further each time – slowly rebuilding her movement, confidence and belief in what might be possible.

This weekend, Debbie completed her second parkrun. Having walked the first, this time she jogged for the very first time – and made sure she didn’t finish last!

“I was slow, I was shit and I was fucking kind. Order me a T-shirt!”

Stories like Debbie’s are exactly why SRC exists. It isn’t about speed, times or looking like a runner. It’s about taking that first step, finding your people and discovering that you may be capable of far more than you imagined.
